The development of Ukrainian university students’ discourse-oriented translation competence in Chinese and English as foreign languages

The manuscript covers some methodological issues related to the development of Ukrainian university students’ discourse-oriented translation competence in Chinese and English as foreign languages at State Institution “South National Pedagogical University named after K. D. Ushynsky”, Odesa, Ukraine (Ushynsky University). Against backdrop competence-based curriculum design for training translators, this research is aimed investigating structure possible means that contribute its within specialized translator majors. importance study actualized through analysis models which can be applied different professional spheres alongside teaching methods technologies provide academic success. In perspective, indices well evaluation criteria proficiency level (excellent, sufficient, satisfactory, low) were determined. authors used tools follows: systemic content-based analyses examine generalize theoretical foundation topic under focus, systemize outcomes study; focused observation using two similar multiple-choice questionnaires register data collecting three groups bachelor students majoring Translation Studies (Chinese/English major Chinese/English minor) one group teachers platform Ushynsky University.
